During the summer months around 350 cows graze these rich pastures in Weissbach bei Lofer, Austria. They are looked after by the Sennerin, cowherds, who live alone on the Alm in mountain huts. Their cows are identified by the tones of their bells. Traditionally the Sennerins would communicate with one another by yodelling.
